Brian holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Florida International University. He moved to Florida after studying dance extensively throughout New York City and Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He has taught dance throughout South Florida for the past twenty years and recently retired early from the position of Creator and Director of the Port St. Lucie High School Dance Department where he taught and inspired countless young artist for 23 years. His early retirement was initiated by his passion to be more present and place his primary focus in leading SFDC dancers towards their pursuit of professional education and training goals post graduation, as wells as, be more available to lead our Award winning competition team to consistent victory. He has choreographed many pieces that have placed in top 10 Overall, including 1st Overall, the last 3 years.
Brian prides himself on the success of many former students and his ability to employ the right team of instructors to help dancers reach their professional goals. His past students have received partial and full scholarships to prestigious colleges for Dance and Musical Theater including: Marymount University NYC, the University of Oklahoma, Rider University, Texas State University, the University of Florida, and the University of South Florida to name a few.
In addition to continuing education, he has alumni that have attained employment with some of the most well known names in the industry including: Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, Disney World Orlando, Universal Studios Orlando, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Virgin Voyages, Superbowl Dancers, and more.
Brian’s mission is to expose young performance artists and dancers to the various ways dance can transform their lives and enhance their futures well beyond dance. Passion, dedication, and work ethic in the studio lead to success in everything outside of it. Not every student that comes through our doors wishes to pursue dance as a career, but the life lessons learned at SFDC, will follow them throughout life regardless of the path they choose.
He takes pride in having the opportunity to share his passion with his wife and Co-Director, Bonnie Spector, and pour his lifelong knowledge and talents into his children that have trained at SFDC since Pre-school. His greatest enjoyment is Co-directing with his wife and performing on stage with their three children in SFDC’s annual production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ performed at the Lyric Theater each Holiday season.
He also participates in Dancing with the Stars Martin County where he has helped to raise money for Martin County Healthy Start Coalition, a non for profit company that holds a special place in his and his wife’s heart. In 2022, he and his partner won the coveted mirror ball which is displayed in the studio lobby. He is pleased to be able to use South Florida Dance Company to help many more students pursue successful careers in dance!
