The 2025–2026 competitive season was one for the history books as South Florida Dance Company (SFDC) Team dancers came together as a dedicated dance family and emerged as one of the nation’s top competitive studios. Under the direction of Brian and Bonnie Spector, alongside choreographers and coaches Alana Moradel and Antonio “Tony” Torres and Assistant Coach Caitlyn Collins, Team SFDC captured three Regional Championship titles before earning the prestigious title of National Champion at Showstopper National Finals.

One of the season’s defining achievements was the team’s award-winning production, “We Are Hip Hop.” The eight-minute production earned First Overall in the state at three regional dance competitions and, in April, secured South Florida Dance Company’s induction into the Stars Dance Alliance Diamond Studio Club after scoring within less than one-tenth of a point from a perfect score—an extraordinary accomplishment recognized among the nation’s highest-performing competitive dance studios.

The journey to the national title began with two intensive weeks of choreography, followed by ten months of disciplined rehearsals, teamwork, and unwavering commitment. Their efforts culminated at the Showstopper National Championship Finals, where SFDC earned the coveted National Champion title while competing against many of the world’s top dance studios. Despite being one of the smallest teams in attendance, SFDC proved that passion, preparation, and perseverance can outperform even the largest programs.

The production featured all 38 members of the competitive team, ranging from novice to advanced dancers, with some performers as young as seven years old. “We Are Hip Hop” celebrated the rich history, culture, and influence of hip hop through high-energy choreography, storytelling, and dynamic performances that captivated audiences and judges alike.

Every detail of the production reflected the team’s commitment to excellence. Each dancer wore a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted costume customized with rhinestones, unique artistic details, and studio pride. The costumes were a true labor of love, requiring more than four months of work by parents, staff, and dancers working together to bring the vision to life.

South Florida Dance Company’s motto, “To be the best, you have to train with the best,” was exemplified throughout the season. The National Championship victory stands as a testament to exceptional instruction, outstanding leadership, relentless work ethic, and the belief that dancers of all ages and experience levels can achieve extraordinary success. As the studio celebrates this milestone, Team SFDC is already preparing for another exciting season and looks forward to welcoming new dancers to its award-winning competitive program.

The Team is holding a final round of auditions July 25th, 2026. Click here for audition information and to find out how to become about of their National Champion team!
